Adolphus Edison Worsham was born on August 1, 1902, in Belzoni, Mississippi. He was the oldest son of eight children of the late, John E. and Mary M. Worsham. He was reared in a black colony called Deovolente where he attended public school. He also attended Utica Institute in Utica, Mississippi. He returned to Belzoni and taught the seventh grade in the public school.

He accepted Christ and was baptized at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in 1916 under the pastorate of the late, Rev. E. B. Topps, where he actively served as a choir member and a member Sunday School teacher.

He moved to Chicago in 1926 and married the former Minnie Smith, and to this union, three sons were born.

He became a member of the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in 1927, just two years after Zion Hill was organized. As a member of Zion Hill, he served on the Usher Board, Sunday School Teacher, Senior Choir, and a member of the Trustee Board. In 1946 he was elected chairman of the Trustee Board, a position in which he served for many years. He was one of the signers of the documents to acquire the property on which the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church is presently located.

He was gainfully employed as a building engineer at various places and finally accepted employment at the Beverly Theater until his retirement in 1972.

In 1949, he married the former Ruby Jefferson. They lived happily for forty years until he was called home Thursday, June 29, 1989, at 4:20 A.M.

He leaves to rejoice in his memory his wife, Ruby; three sons, Carl Worsham, Bennie A. Worsham (Ethel), and James E. Worsham (Corrine); four nieces, Deborah, Doris, Clarissa, and Valor, seven nephews: Morris, Josephus, Jr., Herbert, Lenward, Jimmie Lee, Floyd, and John; ten grandchildren, Carol, Harold, Michael, Terrence, Anthony, Cheryl, Brenda, Valerie, Vance, and Adrienne; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; a host of grand nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
