Among the early settlers of Hartwick [NY]. The first town
meeting in Hartwick was held in 1802 , at the house of Joseph Lippitt.
The first town meeting of which any record exists on the town books was
held March 6, 1804 at the house of Stephen Holden and officers were
chosen:
Pathmasters and Fenceviewers--Joseph Ashcraft. (History of

Married Dec 24 1795 in Brooklyn, Sarah Hall daughter of Thomas
and Ann Hall of Hartwick. Thomas Hall died July 16, 1808 ae 71; Ann d.
Feb. 12, 1808 ae 70.
Joseph d. April 14, 1854 aged 79 years. Buried in Maples Cemetery
on the Maples Farm near Hartwick on the road to Burk Hill. Sarah d.
Dec. 17, 1836 ae 66. Buried with husband and parents. (stones)
