Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, at the United Methodist Church in Kenyon, with the Rev. Charles Burnham officiating assisted by Rev. Gordon Minehart Pastor of the Faith Methodist Church in St. Anthony Village of Minneapolis for June Hazel Whitney. Mrs. Dora Von Wald and Vernon Reko, as a duet rendered vocal music accompanied by Benjamin Rehnke serving as church organist. Dr. Russell Meyer, Dr. Rodney Meyer, Dr. Leonard Fogelson, Dr. Ricard Puumala, Phillip Gibson and Dwayne Whitney served as Casketbearers. interment took place at the Kenyon Cemetery. June Hazel Whitney passed away at the Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, on Wednesday, Dec. 24, at the age of 67. Miss Whitney, sister of Mrs. Icle M. Meyer of Kenyon, was born Aug. 8, 1902 at Waterloo, Iowa of parents Myron and Addie Akin Whitney. After attending High School at Waterloo, Iowa, she moved to Minneapolis, where she has since resided. She attended the University of Minnesota, after which she became Secretary to the Dean of the Minnesota Medical School. She later became Executive Secretary at General Mills Chemical Research Division of Minneapolis until she retired in Aug. of 1967. Miss Whitney was a member of the Faith Methodist Church in Saint Anthony Village of Minneapolis. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Icle M. Meyer of Kenyon; one brother, Gordon Whitney of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers; Neal, Carroll, Wayne and one brother who died in infancy.
