Verlyn D. Wollmann, 74, of Fedora, S.D., passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2009 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell, S.D., from pancreatic cancer. The funeral service was held Wednesday, June 10 at 11 a.m. at Endeavor Presbyterian Church, Fedora, with Rev. Richard Poppen officiating. Burial was in the Menno Cemetery.

Verlyn David Wollmann was born October 4, 1934 at home in Hutchinson County to David and Susie (Glanzer) Wollmann. Verlyn was baptized in the James River by his home and confirmed at the Salem Mennonite Church, rural Bridgewater, S.D. Veryln grew up on the farm north of Menno, S.D., attended elementary school in rural schools and attend high school in Menno. He graduated from the Reisch American School of Auctioneering, Mason City, Iowa in 1955.

Verlyn married Darlen Magstadt on May 25, 1958 at Kaylor, S.D. To this union six children were born. The couple farmed and milked cows on the family farm north of Menno. He also was an auctioneer in Hutchinson County until 1984. Darlene passed December, 1984. Verlyn married Evelyn Aldal on December 30, 1984 in Howard, S.D. The couple then moved to Fedora, where Verlyn worked at various jobs until he retired. Verlyn had an everlasting smile, a Christian fellowship for people, enjoyed rides in the country, fishing, gardening, his auctioneering and a love for his family, especially his grandchildren. Verlyn was a member of the Assembly of God and South Dakota Auctioneers Association.

Those who will always cherish his memory are his wife Ruth Evelyn Wollmann of Fedora; his children: Karla Kessler of Madison, S.D., Michael (Kathleen) Wollmann, Olivet, S.D., Jon (Rachel) Wollmann, Honolulu, Hawaii, James Wollmann, Sioux Falls, S.D., Merlyn Wollmann, Buckeye, Ariz., Timothy (Marissa) Wollmann, Garretson, S.D.; step-children: Sandy (Scott) Ahrendt, Larchwood, Iowa, Jeff (Frances) Aldal, Antelope, Calif.; grandchildren: Rebecca and David Kessler, Rachael, Hannah, Laura, Bryce and Siri Wollmann; stepgrandchildren: Dustin and Eric Ahrendt, Chana Delago, Alyssa and Tyler Aldal; step-great-grandchild Kesa; brother Daryl Wollmann, North Sioux City, S.D.; and a sister Jolaine Gerlach, Sioux Falls.

Verlyn was preceded in death by his parents; brothers; and his first wife Darlene.
