The funeral of William Davis was conducted by Rev Howard Haves Sunday afternoon Feb 26, at the Steffy Funeral Home. Mrs Keith Steffy was the organist at the service.
Interment was in the Masonic-IOOF Cemetery at Montezuma.
Casket bearers were Floyd Snook, Willis Snook, Richard Snook, Joseph Collum, Grover Loftin & LaVerne Loftin.
Mr Davis, 75, died in Phoenix, Ariz, on Sunday 19 Feb.
The son of James & Rebecca Davis, William Edwin Davis was born 10 Jun 1891, Grinnell. He spent his boyhood in and around Mountezuma.
In 1917 he was married to Elsie Elizabeth Snook. They moved to Chicago where Mr Davis worked as a carpenter. Four sons were born to this union.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie, in 1925, and two sons, Forrest and Eldon, both of whom lost their lives in World War II,and one grandson, Harold Edward Davis.
Later he was united in marriage with Jessie Smith of Des Moines. They spent his remaining years in Phoenix.
Survivers include his wife, Jessie, his two sons, Ferral of Phoenix and Vernon of Montezuma; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two step children.
