William Spencer McCaskey
Birth: Oct. 2, 1843
Death: Aug. 10, 1914

United States Army General. He was said to be, "the last surviving officer and the last man in the regular army who bore a musket or held a commission in the Civil War”. While he was commander of Fort Lincoln, he told Mrs. George Armstrong Custer of the massacre of her husband and his troops at the Little Big Horn on June 25, 1876. (bio by: Richard H.)
