Mrs. DeRidder Dies; Services To Be Thursday

Mrs. Cornelia DeRidder, 64, 415 Grand Ave., widow of the late John DeRidder, died at 5:30 a.m. today at Cushing Memorial Hospital. Mrs. DeRidder suffered a heart attack Monday night and was taken to the hospital early Tuesday morning.

She was born March 8, 1889, at Rotterdam, Holland, the daughter of Jacob and Cornelia Bosloper Flipse. In 1907 she came directly from Holland to Leavenworth, and shortly after she married Mr. DeRidder on Sept. 26, 1907, at St. Joseph. When the Church of the Open Door was founded 39 years ago by Mr. DeRidder, the late Henry Last and several other charter members, Mrs. DeRidder became the organist and served until her death.

She was corresponding secretary for the church for over 38 years. For the past 10 years she has been serving as organist for the Davis Funeral Church. Her husband, John ReRidder, died Oct. 26, 1939.

Mrs. DeRidder is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Anna Chapman, 411 Grand Ave.; Mrs. Betsy Ettinger, 415 Grand Ave., and Mrs. Corry Burlingame, Kansas City, Mo.; one sister, Mrs. Betsy Veenstra, Dordrecht, Holland; two grandsons, Edward J. Chapman Jr., 411 Grand Av., and David W. Chapman, 111 Franklin; and one great grandson, David W. Chapman Jr.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Church. The Rev. Walter M. Jones, pastor of the Church of the Open Door, assisted by the Rev. R.J. Reinmiller, secretary of the Gospel Missionary Union, Kansas City, will officiate. Burial will be in the family lot in Mt. Muncie Cemetery.
