The following obituary furnished through courtesy of member/contributor H C Ouzts, No. 7627433--
Mr. L. H. Kemp died at his home near Kirksey on Monday night. He had been sick for some time and his death was not unexpected. He was about 79 years old. Mr. Kemp was one of the most highly respected men in the county. He had always discharged the duties of citizenship in the most consciencious manner. Those who served with him in the war says he was one of the bravest soldiers in the Confederacy. He had been a member of the Baptist Church for many years and exemplified his religion by his daily life.
Besides his aged wife, five children are left to mourn his death. They are: Messrs. P. B. and (Sole) Kemp, Mrs. J. P. Cook, Mrs. J. J. Timmerman, and Mrs. J. E. Parlow, all of this county.
The remains were interred with Masonic honors at Mountain Creek Church on yesterday.
