Mr. Peterson was a U.S.Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War as a fireman apprentice. After the service he was the owner and operator of Richard E. Peterson and Son trash hauling service for more than 25 years.
He was also active in the community, where he was a member of the Laurel Lake Volunteer Fire department for more than 45 years, and also held the coordinator's popsition in the Office of Emergency Management for Commercial Township for many years.
Mr. Peterson is survived by his brother Edward(Pete)and wife Rose Peterson of Commercial Township; granddaughter, Tina Endicott and husband Steve of Marmora, and great-grandchildren Aiden and Gianna.
He is the son of the late Lloyd and Edna(Lydic) Peterson.
His wife Nancy preceded him in death; also preceded in death by his son Michael. A brother, Theodore, and a sister, Yvonne, also preceded him in death.
