Hieronymus Tschan immigrated to the United States from Germany in 1857. He lived in Philadelphia for his entire life after his emigration from Germany. He was a Coachman by occupation and married Juliane Schneibel in 1854 in Germany before emigrating. He and Juliane had three daughters Amelia, Martha, Theresa, all born in Germany and one son, John, born in Philadelphia, Pa. Hieronymus Tschan's last name was always confused with the name "Johns" since the pronunciation was the same. Therefore I have also recorded a record under the name of Johns, since his death Certificate Reads: "Heronemus Johns". His death Certificate from Philadelphia also indicates he was buried in St. Peters RC Cemetery. But the cemetery claims that a lot of records from the 1880 are missing due to time and deteriation. Hieronymus died February 7 1882 and was buried February 11 1882. I also have a copy of the Death Registration Book indicating his Burial at St. Peter's RC Cemetery.
