Deseret News, The (Salt Lake City, UT) - September 21, 2007. Deceased Name: Virginia Welch Marsh, UT, United States. Virginia Welch Marsh 1922 ~ 2007, Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Virginia Welch Marsh, passed away 10 September, 2007, with loving family members at her side in the home of her son, Thayne, and his wife, Deaun, in South Jordan. Virginia was born the 25th of Oct. 1922 in Cowley, Wyoming, to Frederick Arza Welch and Nora Clyde Huff. Virginia attended school at the University of Wyoming where she earned a two-year teaching certificate and was a cheerleader for the teams. She continued to cheer for them her entire life as well as for her beloved state of Wyoming. She married Mearle Clyde Marsh Jr., 25 June 1946, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were the parents of eight children. Virginia was a devoted wife and mother. Her family was everything to her, and she worked tirelessly in their behalf. There was special joy between Virginia and her grandchildren. Virginia treasured her testimony and her membership in the LDS church, and she served faithfully in many callings. She loved her relatives and was diligent in family history work. She enjoyed many friends and was a friend to all people. She was talented in music, ballroom dancing, sewing, and crocheting. She enjoyed traveling, and she was grateful for the opportunity of visiting 50 temples. Virginia returned to school, earning a bachelor's degree at the University of Utah, and she taught school at Roosevelt Elementary for 12 1/2 years. After Mearle's death in 1989, Virginia retired and served a proselyting mission in Johannesburg, South Africa. This was a great joy to her, as well as the missions of her sons and grandsons. It is hard to imagine the joy in heaven when Virginia met her family. She said once when asked about seeing Mearle again, "My heart will skip a beat, just like the first time I ever saw him." Virginia also loved her parents and grandparents more than can be expressed in words, and she longed daily for the time when she could be with them again. We, her children, will always be grateful for the wonderful legacy she left to us. Thank you, Mom, with all our hearts.

She is survived by two brothers, Arthur Welch (Dixie), Fred Welch (LaVoy), and sister-in-law, Elaine Welch (Arza deceased); her children: Don Marsh, Thayne Marsh (Deaun), Robert Marsh (Terri), Scott Marsh (Mary), Lyman Marsh, Patra Anne Hepworth (Don), Mearle Clyde Marsh lll (Holly), Melodie Webb (David); 33 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
