Family At Bed Side; Pioneer Waltrip Goes
James A. Waltrip, another pioneer, passed away at his home at 100 Cayuga street, at 4:30 this morning. For the last thirty years he had spent his time in Watsonville, and had gained a host of friends with his kind and loving disposition.
Mr. Waltrip was born in Barry county, Missouri, June 27, 1851, and was married on October 27, 1897 to Miss Elnora Lasley of Barry county, Missouri. Mr. Waltrip was a devoted member of the First Christian church, and was a loving husband and father. His wife and all of his children were at his bedside when he passed away, and also his only brother, Elijah Waltrip.
He leaves to mourn his loss his loving wife and eight children, five boys and three girls, as follows: Thomas Waltrip of Santa Cruz, William and Ail Waltrip of Watsonville, Leonard and Bert Waltrip of San Jose, Mrs. Louisa Leona of Watsonville, Mrs. Marie Horstmand of Aptos, Mrs. Minnie Grant of San Jose, and his brother, Elijah Waltrip, of Burbank, Calif. He also had twenty-five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 tomorrow afternoon from the Chase mortuary and interment will be at Watsonville in the Odd Fellows cemetery. Friends and acquaintances are respectfully invited.
