Funeral services will be held Monday, May 14, 2012 at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Bernard "Ben" Prejean, age 78, who passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. at Courtyard Manor in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. The Rev. Gary Schexnayder, pastor of St. Michael Church in Crowley, will officiate at the services.
Mr. Prejean was a native of Lafayette and a resident of Carencro for the past forty years. He retired with Halliburton with thirty years of service. Mr. Prejean was a veteran of the military having served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include two sons, Alan Bernard Prejean of Kaplan and David Byron Prejean of Crowley; one stepson, Gary Thibodeaux of Lafayette; one daughter, Manie Linette Baudoin d'Ajoux and her husband, Gabriel, of Carencro; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one sister, Gussie Clause and her husband, Melvin, of Carencro.
He was preceded in death by his wife of forty-eight years, Annie Lee Smith Prejean; his parents, Gilbert Prejean and the former Aline Bernard; one son, Brian Keith Prejean; and two sisters, Irene Benton and Lucile Arceneaux.
Pallbearers will be Andre Baudoin d'Ajoux, Laighton Benoit, Lance Wooley, Mike Prejean and Johnny Arceneaux.
Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N. University Ave., Carencro, Louisiana was in charge of arrangements.
