Rile Doty, 74, passed away suddenly Sunday morning. He had been at church and had left a little before the service was over to go down to the Lutheran Home and help in the dining room, as was his custom. Some fifteen minutes later he was found near the croquet grounds on the Lutheran Home campus, lying on his back, dead of a heart attack.
Me. Doty was born May 12, 1862, near Round Grove, Ind. On January 22, 1884 (4 crossed out and changed to 2) he married Sophia Rice. She passed away in 1933. An only child, Mrs. Eldo O. Metzer died in 1929. Mr. Doty was a resident of the Mulberry Lutheran Home. He was a retired farmer, and also had worked at the plastering trade.
He is survived by a granddaughter, Glendora Metzger, of Lafayette, and a half-sister, Mrs. James Irwin, of Number Ten.
Mr. Doty was a member of the Fair Haven Lutheran church, and the funeral services were conducted at that church Monday afternoon the Rev. Frank B. Herzel officiating. Burial was made in the Fair Haven cemetery.
