She was the daughter of Robert Renfro & Sarah Nelson

Emily Renfro Coulter, was born July 10,
1851. She was 75 years 6 months and 18 days when the death angel came into her
home Jan. 28, 1927 and said thy race is run, come up higher and meet your loved
ones in the beautiful land of the sweet bye and bye, where there will be no
parting or saying good byes. Emily Renfro was converted at an early age uniting
with the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church later moving her membership to the Piney
Level Baptist Church remaining there until death. She married Samuel Coulter,
Oct. 28, 1873, being married 53 years, 3 months and one day. To this union eight
children were born, four boys and four girls, Robert Coulter the eldest,
deceased, Mrs. Wm Braden, Mrs. Ed Tefeteller (sic), West (sic) and Tol Coulter,
Mrs. Inel (sic) Hutsell, Mack Coulter, Mrs. Elias Hutsell, all of Blount County,
excepting Mack of Bakersfield, California. Having 36 grandchildren, five of whom
preceded her and seven great grandchildren one of whom preceded her. Being the
last member of the Renfro family to depart this life. She told her husband the
end was near. "I hate to leave you", she said, "but the Lord was gracious and
good to us sparing our lives to see all of our children grown and homes of their
