Oriey E. Coffey Dies in Hospital

Orley Edwin Coffey, a lifelong resident of the town of Boylston where he was a leading farmer and cattle dealer, died Tuesday, July 27, 1948 in the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown after a brief illness. Cause of death was thrombosis.

He was born in the town of Boylston November 2, 1880, a son of the late John R. Coffey and Margaret Huyck Coffey who were early residents of the town. Their son attended local schools and had always resided in this locality, at different times owning various farms in the towns of Boylston and Sandy Creek, invariably making many improvements to any property which he owned. He had never married. His sister, Mrs. LeElla Dungey of Lacona, survives him.

Mr. Coffey was a member of Rising Sun Grange of Bolyston and at one time served as superintendent of highways for the town of Boylston.

Funeral services are to be held at the late home Saturday afternoon, Rev. Selden Ward, pastor of the Sandy Creek Baptist church, officiating. Burial will be in Wesleyan cemetery.
