Joshua, son of William Watson and Dortha McConnell, married Hannah Andress, daughter of James Andress and Hannah Woolf, in Brockville, Leeds and Grenville County, Ontario on February 12, 1861. Joshua was 16 years younger than Hannah. They had two known children, Agnes and Mary Watson.

Hannah had been married previously to James Larue. They had two known children, Margery and Marie Larue.

James was about 44 years older than Hannah, and he passed away in Ontario about 1859 at the age of 79, leaving Hannah a widow at the age of 35.

Joshua, Hannah, and the children of both of Hannah's marriages emigrated from Canada to the United States in 1874 and settled in Columbia Township, Tuscola County, Michigan.

Hannah died of cancer there on February 25, 1901 at the age of 77 years, 11 months, and 9 days.

In 1910 Joshua was still living in Columbia Township. Residing with him were his step-daughters, the widowed Margery (Larue) Titmus and Marie Larue.

Joshua died of pneumonia on May 15, 1916 in Columbia Township, Tuscola County, Michigan at the age of 75 years, 9 months, and 20 days.
