Only child of Sandor (Alexander)and Katalin (Katherine)(nee Piller)Kiraly. Immigrants from Hungary. Husband of Anna Frances Trese Kratz and Virginia Matilda Adams. Father of one daughter and one son. Many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joseph graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Landscape Architecture. Married in 1926 to Anna Kratz. The recession of 1930 hit and Joe was without work. They moved to Carp Lake in Upper Michigan, because Joe had accepted a position to help design and develop Wilderness State Park, in Michigan He worked for the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) until completion of the park.
He then moved his family back to Detroit, Michigan where he worked as a Landscape Architect.
He and Anna divorced, later he married Virginia Matilda Adams.
Joe and Ginny lived in Detroit, started planning for retirement one day. They bought land in Brasstown, North Carolina and started planting wildflowers. They love to take trips into Northern Michigan and stop and dig up wildflowers along the road. They would then take them and replant them on the side of their mountain. They had a scale model of the property in their basement, where they landscaped their property. They also made homemade root beer in that same basement!
Joe was an avid Morgan Dollar Collector back in his Detroit days, plus a stamp collector.
Joe was cremated and his ashes were taken with Ginny's ashes(she preceded him in death) and buried under a tree in Manistee, Michigan.
