TURNERS FALLS -- Mary S. (Stebbins) Skyrpek, 79, of 18 Sunrise Terrace died Monday (12-13-99) at home.
Born in Greenfield, Jan. 19, 1920, she was the daughter of George D. and Edith (Wrisley) Stebbins. She was educated in Greenfield schools and was a 1937 graduate of Greenfield High School. She moved from Greenfield to Millers Falls in 1950 and to Turners Falls in 1987.
Skrypek was an assistant librarian at the Millers Falls Library. She had worked at the Millers Falls Paper Co. for 25 years, retiring in 1982.
A member of the Millers Falls Congregational Church, she was a Sunday school teacher and an active member of its Ladies Guild.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Millers Falls Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2827, serving as both treasurer and assistant treasurer.
She was a den mother of Cub Scout Den 47 and a coach of the Lassie Softball League in Millers Falls.
She enjoyed reading and walking.
Her husband, Edward S. Skrypek, died in 1996.
Survivors include a son, John "Jack" G. Nickerson of Turners Falls; a daughter, Barbara Wells of Greenfield; a brother, George H. Stebbins of Brattleboro, Vt.; a sister, Eleanor Buckmaster of Montague Center; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be in Brookside Cemetery, South Deerfield, at a date and time to be announced.
There are no calling hours.
