DEATH CERTIFICATE at seekingmichigan.org for Amel [Emil] Andrew Benson says born Aug 18 1857 [1852] Sweden; died Feb 10 1914 Stambaugh age 56years 5months 17days widowed farmer parents not known signed by Earnest Benson cause of death: self-inflicted gunshot wound in the head on Feb 6 buried Iron River.

INFORMATION FROM RELATIVE granddaughter Janice Travers Ricci of Pioneer CA ([email protected]) says her mother Sophie Travers was next to youngest child of Emil & Agatha's 9 children. Janice is youngest of her mother's 8 children and was a twin. Emil was born 1852 or 1854 in Sweden and came to the US 1862. They married in 1882. Emil operated a saloon and boarding house in the Mroz building and the family lived in an apartment on the second floor in the 1900 decade. This info was obtained from old newspaper clippings someone in her family kept. There are some references to them living at 804 W. Genesee. He died on June 4, 1913 but tombstone says 1914. [see above for correct date]
