Born to Alvin and Mildred Jones.
She graduated from Adams High School before attending Peru State College, where she received her bachelor's degree in education. Betty did her graduate work at Kearney State College and the University of NEB-Lincoln.
On May 29, 1943, she married Marvin Beatty at Urbana, ILL. They had one son, Kenneth. She tought in the Sutherland School System for 44 years.
Mrs. Beatty was a life member of the Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder, deacon, and Sunday school teacher. She was a 60 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she served in many offices and served as Worthy Matron in 1949, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a charter member and had been president, vicepresident, secretary, and treasurer of the Sutherland Edu. Association. She was proud of both of her grandchildren who had chosen careers in the field of education.
Suvivors include her husband, Marvin and son, Kenneth (Margene) Beatty all of Sutherland; 2 grandchildren, Ryan Beatty of Grandview, MO, and Kendra Beatty of Omaha NE; brother, Robert (Marcia) Jones of Grandbury, TX; a nephew, Dan (Pam) Jones of Grandbury; and a cherished friend, Uncle William Fulcher of Sutherland.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church in North Platte, NE with Rev. Hawley officiating. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is in charge.
