LOUISA JANE THOMPSON
---Mrs. John Thompson died at her home in La Plata last Saturday after an illness of several weeks.
---Mrs. Thompson came to La Plata fifteen years ago with her husband and they have lived in and near here ever since.
---Mrs. Thompson was a woman of the highest type, accommodating, upright in all her dealings, a friend to everyone and was one person who had a smile and a pleasant word for everyone. She was one of those old sturdy pioneers that everyone loved-to know her was a privilege.
---Almighty God in his wisdom has chosen to take this splendid mother, wife, friend and citizen from our midst but fond recollections of her Christian acts will be cherished always by her many friends.
In same issue,
---Louisa Jane Mumford was born in Knox county, Missouri on June 9, 1859, and died Saturday morning at 5:45, March 17, after an illness of four weeks of influenza later developing into pneumonia and never regained her strength, although her condition was not thought serious until Friday. All that doctors and loved ones could do was done to save her, but to no avail, her Master called her home where there are no sorrow or pain.
---In the year of 1877 she was united in marriage to John M. Thompson and to them were born six children, four daughters and two sons, Mrs. James McConnell, La Plata, Mrs. Clyde Campbell of Arcada, Kansas, Bertha and Lou at home, E.C. of La Plata and James W. of Florence, Colorado, all with the husband survive. The children were at her bed side with the exception of the son in the West which was unable to get here until Sunday, all being present for the funeral.
---She is also survived by three brothers, J.B. Mumford of New Mexico, Edward Mumford of Montana and Joseph Mumford of Atlanta, together with a number of grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
---She united with the Baptist Church when young then later uniting with the Methodist Episcopal church at Locust Hill but always expressed her faith toward the Baptist Church where she wanted her children to attend.
---Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. L.E. Stonecipher after which she was laid to rest in the La Plata cemetery.
