REV. W. D. HAWK OF MASON CITY DIES IN SPRINGFIELD HOSPITAL
Mason City. Jan. 1 -- (Special) -- Rev. William Davis Hawk, pastor of the Christian church here, died yesterday afternoon at the hospital in Springfield following an operation preformed two days previous.
Rev. Hawk was born in Lanark July 28, 1865, and grew to young manhood in that place. He attended Eureka college and later graduated from Normal university, after which he engaged in the teaching profession for some time. He united with the Christian church in his youth and about ten years ago entered the ministry. He came to Mason City as pastor of the local church last June. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Metta Anderson Hawk, one son Ravonne Hawk, and the following brothers: Thomas M., Emmet D. and Norman H. Hawk.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 o'clock from the residence and at 10 o'clock from the Christian church here, with burial in the Wiley cemetery in Colfax. A short burial service will be held at the grave, to which place the remains will be taken overland.
