(Marble monument under East window) A shield of Arms Quarterly 1 & 4 Monypenny 2 & 3 Cathcart; impaling Gybbon. Crest: Neptune riding a dolphin. Underneath is buried James MONY--PENNY Esquire who died October 23, 1721 aged 51. Descended of an eminent family at Pitmilli in the Shire of Fife in Scotland. He married Mary daughter of Robert GYBBON of this Parish Esquire by whome he had five children; James, Elizabeth, Robert, Phillips, James. The eldest James was buried in St. Ann's Church, Soho, in the County of Middlesex and Phillips in this chancell, the three surviving children are under the care of Mary his beloved widow who erected this monument in memory of the best of Husbands. Underneath is also buried the said Mary Monypenny who died June the 2nd 1756 aged 71 years. She lived beloved and died lamented by all who knew her. Underneath is also buried the said Elizabeth Monypenny who died July 21, 1760 aged 43 years. [On left panel] Underneath is buried Robert Monypenny who died 29 March 1772 aged 53 years. Also Mary wife of the said Robert Monypenny who died December 4 1775 aged 54 years. (On right panel) Underneath is buried Robert Monypenny Esquire of Merrington Place in this Parish who died 14 January 1834 aged 62 years and 11 months. Also Elizabeth wife of the said Robert Monypenny Esquire who died 28 April 1833 aged 61 years and 10 months. Also Robert Joseph Monypenny their eldest son who died at Maytham Hall September 4, 1842 aged 42.
