Obit for Charity (Williams) Anderson Colfax Press, Colfax, Illinois, Thursday, December 23, 1926
Mrs. W. H. Anderson died at her home at 901 N. Main St., Bloomington, at 2:00 o'clock, Dec. 15, 1926.
Charity Williams was the youngest child of Richard Williams and Margaret Ballentine Williams and was born March 10, 1943 at Cochocton, Ohio.
The family moved to Illinois while she was yet a child, and settled in Bloomington for a short time, but during an epidemic they left that city and located on a farm near the present sight of Colfax.
Her husband proceeded her in death, passing away at their Colfax residence on Jan. 4, 1923, at the age of 82.
Two children were born them -- Dr. John M. Anderson of Saybrook, Ill., and Mrs. Metta D. Hawk, of Bloomington and one grandchild Ravonne A. Hawk, of Chicago.
For many years Mrs. Anderson conducted a school of music which was an art in which she took the keenest delight and much of the present musical talent of Colfax was inspired through her efforts and teachings during their childhood.
For many years and until the failing health of both her husband and herself forbade such work, she was actively associated in the music of the Christian church of which she was a charter member.
Mrs. Anderson, for years figured actively in the mercantile interests of Colfax and only recently closed out her business interests on account of her health. She was a woman of wonderful vitality, unusually ambitions, and retained to the last hour her optimistic cheerful disposition.
Funeral services were held from the Christian church at Colfax at 11:00 a. m. Friday. Rev. McNemar officiating. The pallbearers were: C. Scott, Joseph Martin Sr., Thomas Blair, A. L. Huston, J. R. Williams, and A. M. Hicks. A quartet composed of R. O. Wills, Mrs. John Thedens, Richey Grending and H. C. Tipton, sang, "Jesus Saviour, Pilot Me," "Sometime We'll Understand," and "No Night There."
