Hazleton Man Dies In Texas

Earl B. Wetzel, 560 North Church street (sic), died suddenly at 1 o'clock this morning (EST) at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Edward McKay, Amarillo, Texas, where he was vacationing.

He was employed by the Pennsylvania Power and Light Company for 30 years before retiring several years ago.

The deceased was a member of the Church of Christ, Wilkes-Barre.

A veteran of World War One, he served overseas for two years.

Surviving are his wife, the former Grace McMahon, of Bellaire, Ohio, and two daughters, Mrs. McKay, and Helen, at home.

The funeral will be held from Bachman Brothers Funeral Home at a time to be announced later.

Earl B. Wetzel, 560 North Church Street, Hazelton (sic), died suddenly yesterday morning at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Edward McKay, Amarillo, Texas, where he was vacationing. He was 62 years old.

Mr. Wetzel was born at Carlisle a son of the late George B. and Ida Mae Turner Wetzel. In World War I he served in the Army and spent two years overseas. He was employed by the Pennsylvania Power and Light Company for 30 years, retiring several years ago. He was a member of the United Church of Christ, Wilkes-Barre.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Grace McMahon Wetzel; two daughters, Mrs. McKay and Miss Helen Wetzel, at home, and a grandchild.

Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 148 South Hanover Street. Evangelist Charles Scott, of the Church of Christ, Scranton, will officiate. Burial will be in the Old Graveyard. Friends may call on Friday at the funeral home prior to the services.

I recently took photos in Mountain View Cemetery in West Hazleton, Luzerne County, PA and found Earl and Grace Wetzel there. I see that he is buried in Carlisle, PA, but here is a stone for him in West Hazleton. I put a note on the photo that this is in West Hazleton. Not sure where he actually is, but I did want to explain the photo to you.
