TOM ROSE

Tom Rose, 76, of Kilgore, NE died June 6th 2012, at Gordon, NE doing what he loved to do best, looking at good black cows in a pasture full of grass. He was born April 25, 1936 in Gordon, NE to Ralph and Marian Rose. He attended school in Gordon, Rushville, and Extension in northwest Sheridan County. He went through 10th grade and then stayed home to work the ranch at Larabee Creek near White Clay, NE.
Tom met and married the love of his life, Ileen Norton. They had been married for three years before being drafted into the United States Army. He was stationed in Korea, serving two years. After returning home, cattle ranching took them to the White Clay area and then on to Northern Minnesota, where they had two daughters, Ronda and Velda, upon returning to Nebraska son Dannie was born. Tom was a loving and caring husband, daddy, and Grandpa. Lessons for life were taught with respect and discipline. Being a man of few words, he could convey his wishes and thoughts with just a look. Cattle, horses, wildlife, and rodeo were what he looked forward to everyday. His children and grandchildren were supported in their efforts and choices in life, school, rodeos, hunting and sports. He loved the land and animals that God put around him. Tom was a lifetime member of the NRA, a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and a member of the Lutheran Church. Survivors include, wife Ileen, married 54 ½ years. Ronda(Paul) Kenner, of Wood Lake, Ne. Velda (Bret) Adamson, of Kilgore, NE. and Dannie (Vickie) Rose, of Martin, SD. Nine Grandchildren, Brandon, Derek (Lacey), and Ty Kenner; Tyler, Tanner, Dali O'Neill, and Sadee May Adamson; Cortne and Cody Rose; three great-grandchildren, Brayden Battershaw and Callie and Treven Kenner. One Sister, Ardith Stabler and many nieces and nephews. Proceeding Tom in death were his parents, Ralph and Marian Rose; Brother Donald Rose; sister in law Phyllis Rose, nephew Steven Rose; and Father and Mother-in-Law, Bill and Mollie Norton.
