Herman Louis Duhring, Jr, was the son of the Reverend Herman L. Duhring, Sr and Lucy (Bryant) Duhring. He attended the local Philadelphia schools and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1895 with a Bachelors of Science in architecture. From the late 1890's until 1924 he was a partner in the firm of Duhring, Okie and Ziegler, after which he worked alone. He was a member of the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and the T-Square Club, another prominent architectural club in Philadelphia.
