BEVERLY E. ALLEN SMITH 89, of Manitou Beach, MI passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Lenawee Medical Care Facility. She was born May 13, 1923, in Jackson, Michigan, the daughter of Bruce and Lila (Mosher) Moulton. Beverly was married to Dr. Russell Allen who preceded her in death in 1974. In 1978, Beverly married John Smith in Adrian. He also preceded her in death in 2003. Beverly was a graduate of University of Michigan earning a Bachelor's Degree, a Master's Degree and a Doctorate in Spanish. She retired from teaching at Adrian College in 1988 with many years of service. She was a member of the DAR, AAUW, and founder and treasurer of the Devil's Lake Preservation League. Beverly also enjoyed her bridge club. She is survived by her children: David (Donna) Allen of Cincinnati, OH; Russell Allen III of Okemos, MI; and Katherine (Paul) Katz of Scottsdale, AZ; grandchildren: Jessica, Alex, Meggie, Jennifer, Beth, Mandy, Joey; six great grandchildren; and her siblings: Marylin Domzalski, George Mouton, and Janet DeWitt. At Beverly's request cremation will take place. A memorial celebration will be held Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. with burial following at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from noon until 1 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Devil's Lake Preservation League.
