Services will be held this afternoon (Thursday) for Clifford J. Purser, an 80-year-old Marshall County native who died Tuesday at his home.
Guy Scott will officiate for services from Watts Memorial Chapel at 2 pm today. Music will be presented by L.A. Robertson.
Born Jan. 23, 1913, to the late Albert Lee and Mary Elizabeth Purser, Mr. Purser was reared in this area. He attended Madill schools and was employed by Frisco Railroad 35 years before retiring in 1976.
Mr. Purser worked in Madill before moving to Oklahoma City. He and Iverna Waggoner were married April 26, 1958, in Norman.
The family moved to Madill in 1988.
Mr. Purser was a member of Trinity Southern Baptist Church. His hobby was playing the guitar.
Other than his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Brenda Purser, of Louisville, KY.; two brothers, Albert of Madill and Paul Purser of Rogers, Ark., and three sisters, Elva Purser of Madill, Nora Griffin of Oklahoma City and Cleo Templeton of Rogers, Ark.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest and Elmer, and three sisters, Effie Barnes, Emma Gary and Lillie Holden.
Casket escorts for services and burial in Woodberry Forest Cemetery will be Leroy Ellis, Dan Hazlett, Ardell Pickens, Buddy Szenasi, Carl Grady and Virgil Harris. Watts Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements."
