E. Wilbur Hoot, 90, formerly of West Point, passed away at his Green Lane residence Saturday, June 2, 2012. He and his wife, Hazel M. (Swyers) Hoot, observed their 65th wedding anniversary February 2 of this year.
Born November 28, 1921 in West Point, he was the son of the late Raymond and Bertha (Piston) Hoot.
He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the invasion of the Aleutian Islands and in the China-Burma-India Theater.
Mr. Hoot was the owner and operator of the former Hoot's Garage of West Point for many years.
He was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Sumneytown, and a life member of West Point Fire Co. where he served as assistant chief and chief engineer.
Mr. Hoot loved the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and splitting firewood.
In addition to his wife, he was survived by two daughters, Susan Myers and her husband, James, and Janice Neuber and her husband, Claus, all of Green Lane; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Rebecca, Stephen, and Matthew; and four great-grandchildren, Patricia, Emma, Ethan, and Caleb. He was looking forward to the birth of his fifth great-grandchild in July.
His funeral service was held on Friday, June 8, 2012 at R. L. Williams, Jr. Funeral Home, Skippack. Burial was at Wentz's U.C.C. Cemetery.
