James was the younger son of Joseph Dominic and Nora Ann (Tobin) Loughran. He was married to Mary (Wetzelberger) Loughran who preceded him in death in 1990. James was of the Roman Catholic faith and a parishioner of St. Augustine of Canterbury Roman Catholic Church in Kendall Park, NJ. He retired in 1990 from St. Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick, Radiology Department. He belonged to the 69th Infantry Regiment of the 42nd Division of the Army National Guard (Manhattan,NY); and the Fighting 69th Veteran Corps. He served in the Korean conflict. James is survived by three sons, three daughters, and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother. James was age 75 when he died.

Gleason Funeral Home, Somerset, NJ, handled services. A Funeral Mass was held at St. Augustine of Canterbury Roman Catholic church. Interment followed at Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick, NJ.
