Mrs. Elsie Weikel
The funeral of Mrs. Elsie, widow of Mervin [sic] Weikel, nee Hepler, Lavelle, will take place Friday afternoon from her late home. Further services will be continued in Christ Evangelical Church, Lavelle by the Rev. George Chambers, pastor of the church, assisted by the Rev. Melvin Walper, pastor of Zion's Reformed Church, Ashland. Burial in Citizens Cemetery, Lavelle.
Mrs. Weikel was born June 6, 1913, a daughter of Mrs. Minnie Hepler (nee Banning) and the late Earl Hepler, in Lavelle, and was a lifelong resident of that town. She was educated in the public schools of Lavelle. She was in ill health for five months and had been a patient in Geisinger Memorial Hospital for one week before being admitted to Fountain Springs Hospital, September 26.
She was married to Melvin Weikel, Ashland, September 19, 1931. Her husband was fatally injured in an independent coal operation nine years ago, and she is survived by the following children: Chester, Darvin, and Patricia, at home; Ronald and Richard, students at Hershey Industrial School; her mother, of Lavelle; two sisters, Stella Hepler, of Woodland Heights; and Mrs. Ida Metzinger, of Ashland, four brothers, Leon, of Pitman; Elwood, of Ashland; Elmer and William, of Lavelle.
