THE PARIS NEWS, Wed., Nov. 27, 1996, p. 14A: '(Picture) Noel Douglas 'Doug' Scott, 76, 1025 Cope Drive, died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 1996, at his home. Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home will conduct graveside services at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at Union Grove Cemetery. The Rev. Mike Fortenberry will officiate. Mr. Scott was born July 23, 1920, in Sulphur Springs to Knox and Clara Tillman Scott. He attended school in the Miller Grove community in Hopkins County and married Margie Locke Dec. 20, 1941, in Cooper. He was a decorated veteran of World War II, serving in the 510th Engineer Pontoon Brigade of the Army in the Pacific. For a number of years he operated service stations in Paris and later joined Cabell's Dairies, retiring as a supervisor in 1983. He was a member of East Paris Baptist Church, the Odd Fellows and the Farm Bureau. Surviving are his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Barbara Scott of Diana; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and DeWayne Howard of Sumner; four grandchildren, Wendy and husband Marc Bradbury and Doug and wife Candy Scott, all of Diana, Heather and husband Bryan Thomas of Paris and Chad Bird of Sumner; one great-granddaughter, Candice Nicole Scott of Diana and another great-grandchild due in March; a brother, Paul Scott of Houston; and two sisters, Sadie Record of Dallas and Robbie Jo Meadlin of Arlington. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. Honorary pallbearers are Coyle Hayes, Alfred Fangio, Kenneth Hill, Bob Rickaby, Larry Branhall, Mitchell Stout and Mike Love.'
