A sad event at 8 o'clock this morning in the home of Former City Treasurer E. F. Allen near Fayetteville was the death of Mr. Allen's mother Mrs. Elizabeth H. Allen. The deceased was the widow of E. Morris Allen and a woman of rare accomplishments and noble character. Her death, even at an advance age, will be deeply regretted in this city. Mrs. Allen was happy when engaged in the work of charity and during her lifetime relieved distress in many a home. She possessed the most admirable qualities and was of a sweet and kindly disposition.
Mrs. Allen is survived by her son, E. F. Allen and a daughter, Mrs. Charles B. Higley. The funeral will be held from the home near Fayetteville at 4 p.m. Saturday.
