John Wesley Asher Died: Monday, January 12, 2004 John Wesley Asher, 80, Crab Orchard, Ky., died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at the V.A. Hospital in Lexington, Ky. A native of Clay County, Ky., born Sept. 16, 1923, he was the son of the late Beldon (B.G.) and Maultie Langdon Asher. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Community Worship Church of God in Crab Orchard.Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Etta Brandenburg and Lois Asher. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, the former Shirley June Hendrickson; four sons, Michael Asher of Richmond, Keith Asher of Brodhead, Ky., Wesley Kenny Asher of Louisville and Kevin Asher of Elizabethtown; a daughter, Sandra Hampton of Pikeville, Ky.; three brothers, Raymond Asher of Crab Orchard, Beldon Asher Jr. of New Salisbury and Waldo Asher of Georgetown, Ky.; four sisters, Helen Wilson of Richmond, Callie Howard and Norma Floyd, both of Brodhead, and Marion Byrd of Lynn; 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a stepgrandchild, and three stepgreat-grandchildren.Visitation: Wednesday, Jan. 14, after 5 p.m. at Community Worship Church of God in Crab Orchard.Funeral: Thursday, Jan. 15, at 11 a.m. at the church with burial in Piney Grove Cemetery at Brodhead. Military rites: Performed at the gravesite by Caswell Saufley American Legion Post 18 of Stanford, Ky. Arrangements: McKnight Funeral Home in Crab Orchard.
