STAAHL, Helen Elizabeth Interment Date 11-14 Nov 1929 Age 79y Lot # Cause of Death Cerebral apoplexy.

Corning Leader - November 12, 1929
The death of Mrs. Helen Havens Stahl, widow of James A. Stahl, occurred at 5 o'clock Monday afternoon, November 11, 1929 at her home at 247 East Pulteney street. Although she had been in ill health for a number of years, Mrs. Stahl's condition had been serious only since a week when she suffered a stroke.
Born in Corning, September 30, she was the was the daughter of William T. and Sabrina Havens and had spent the greater part of her life in this city. In 1869, in Corning, she was married to James A. Stahl, a veteran of the Civil War.
For a few years Mr. and Mrs. Stahl resided in Wellsboro, Pa., and in Owego, but later returned to Corning, where Mrs. Stahl continued to make her home after the death of her husband.
Mrs. Stahl was a quiet, unassuming woman, to whom the first interests were her home and her family. She possessed a loveable personality and her friends held for her deep affection. Her death is the loss of a devoted mother, a loyal friend and a kind neighbor.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and although because of her impaired health she was not able to take an active part in church work, she conscientiously followed in her daily life the teachings of her religion.
Surviving her death are a son and a daughter who reside at home, James R. Stahl and Miss Grace M. Stahl and a sister, Mrs. Julia A. Hill, of Chemung street.
The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the late home. Burial will take place in Hope Cemetery.
