Sidney Vincent Credle, died on Monday, April 29th. He was a native of Durham, born in 1925, to Sidney Mott Credle and Gertrude Mercedes FitzSimons Credle. He graduated from Durham High School, Class of 1943. A veteran of WWII, Mr. Credle served with the U.S. Army, MARS Task Force, in the India-Burma Theater from 1943 until 1945.
He was a graduate of North Carolina State University, class of 1950, and was a Civil Engineer and Land Surveyor in the Durham area for over 45 years. Mr. Credle was a Principal of Credle Engineering Company, Inc. He was a lifelong parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Mr. Credle is survived by his wife, Mary Eileen Frost Credle; his brother Edward C. Credle; his five children, Sidney V. Credle, Jr., William Clifford Credle, Maria Credle Kessler, Walter E. Credle, Stephanie Kate Marion Credle; grandchildren, Alex, Austin, Sidney and Caroline; Ben and Eric; Noah and Spencer.
A funeral Mass will be offered 10:00 AM Friday, May 3rd at the temporary location of Immaculate Conception Church, 2000 Chapel Hill Rd.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service.
Private burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
