Former Shawnee resident and long-time member of First Baptist Church, Doris Baxter Gregg of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on May 13th at the age of 96. She was born December 8th, 1915 to Dr. and Mrs. G.S. Baxter. She attended Shawnee High School and graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University and Baylor University. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Adrian Gregg; and her brother, Dr. Jack Baxter of Houston, Texas. She is survived by one son, Dr. Robert Baxter Gregg (Dr. Sharon Fowler), two grandsons Christopher Gregg of Nashville, TN and Rev. Michael Gregg of Atlanta, GA; two great grandchildren, Brighton Gregg of Nashville, TN and Annaleigh Gregg of Atlanta, GA; a nephew, Jack Baxter of Ft. Worth, Texas; and a cousin, Marinell Friday Guild of Oklahoma City.

Mrs. Gregg was a member of First Baptist Church, Nashville, TN and a long time member of the PEO Sisterhood and Sigma Alpha Iota music fraternity. She taught piano for 50 years and was organist at St. Paul's Methodist Church in Shawnee for many years. After moving to Nashville, TN in 1998, she and Adrian enjoyed the many concerts and recitals at Belmont University . . . especially the Symphony Orchestra directed by their son, Robert.

Visitation with the family will begin at 12:30pm, Tuesday, May 15th at Resthaven Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at Fairview Cemetery on May 15th, 2012 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers a gift may be made to the Fowler-Gregg Orchestra Scholarship Fund at Belmont University.
