Professional Football Player. For three seasons (1975 to 1977), he played at the tackle position in the National Football League with the Detroit Lions. After attending Mark Smith High School in Macon, Georgia, he played collegiate football at the University of Georgia. While with the Bulldogs under the guidance of Hall of Fame coach Vince Dooley, he achieved both first-team All-American and first-team All-SEC honors, as he provided crucial blocking for quarterback Andy Johnson which resulted in Georgia capturing the Peach Bowl title in 1973. He captained the 1974 squad which appeared in the Tangerine Bowl. Selected by Detroit during the 4th round of the 1975 NFL Draft, he appeared in 37 NFL games and secured the starting Left and right-tackle positions in 1976 and 1977. Following his football career, he became proprietor of multiple nightclubs in the Athens, Georgia-area. He died of complications from heart failure. (bio by: C.S.)
