Bertha Elizabeth Turpin Shultz, 84, of Columbus, died at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at Miller's Merry Manor at Hope.

Mrs. Shultz was a homemaker and an active and dedicated member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church and Nite Timers Home Economics Club. She enjoyed her grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church with Father Clem Davis officiating. Calling will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street and from 1 p.m. until service time Friday at the church. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana or St. Bartholomew Catholic Church

Born May 7, 1928, in Louisville, Ky., Mrs. Shultz was the daughter of Raymond and Zona Simpson Turpin. She married Harold Shultz Sept. 29, 1956, in Seymour. He preceded her in death in January 1997.

She is survived by daughters, Susan (Bruce) Larson and Sarah (Rob) Ward of Columbus; a son, Kevin (Jan) Shultz of Columbus; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Tim Shultz; a sister, Delores Reichenba; and a brother, Ernest Turpin.
