Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Brevet Captain in the Union Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a Corporal in Company E, 11th Wisconsin Infantry for action on April 9, 1865 at Fort Blakely, Alabama.
