Here lies the body of Jacob WOOLF who was
born Spt. 19th 1778
and died Oct. 7th, 1823
Born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and moved to Turtle Creek, Fayette County Pennsylvania in 1787, where he along with his father George Wolfe Sr. and his brother George Wolfe Jr were in a business building flatboats, Wolfe & Sons. This is how the German Brethren came to Kentucky and Southern Illinois, traveling down the Ohio River. They moved to Muhlenberg County, Kentucky in 1799 and then started moving to Southern Illinois in 1803.
