Mrs. Nelle Florine Erskine, 91, of Mexia, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012, at her residence. Graveside services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, May 26, 2012, in Thornton Cemetery with Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating. Visitation with the family will be 6 to 8 p.m., Friday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home in Mexia.
Nelle was born in Groesbeck, Texas, to the late Oscar Rufus Rasco, Jr. and Mary Cecil Seal Rasco. She married J. W. Erskine in May 1946. She graduated from Thornton High School, Four C Business School in Waco and TVC Business College Waco. Nelle was a retired clerk of the Veterans Administration Regional Office in Waco where she worked for almost 20 years. She enjoyed family outings and collecting thimbles. Nelle was a past member of the Garden Club and American Business Women's Association. She was a member of Grace Temple Baptist Church in Waco.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Nelle is survived by her daughter, Barbara Bartlett and husband, Joe, of Mexia; grandchildren, Amanda Ogilvie Bell and husband, Michael, of Mexia, and Whit Ogilvie and wife, Carrie Jo, of Coolidge; step-grandchild, Michelle Fischer and husband, Harry, of North Richland Hills; five step great-grandchildren; brother, John Foy Rasco, of Dew; and other family members and many friends.
