Major Edith E. West,73, died Friday, May 18, in a Mobile hospital after a lengthly illness.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, May 23, in Old Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Childs of Mobile officiating.

Major West retired from the US Army Nurses Corps. She served in the South Pacific during World War II and three years in Germany. Upon her retirement, she taught student nurses at Mobile General Hospital.

She is survived by one brother, Jesse West of Selma, four sisters, Jane W. King and Judy W. Booker, both of Selma, Lady Kent Zetwick of Walhalla, SC, and Freddie Lauderback of Pace, Fla.
