| Birth: | 1888 | | Death: | Oct. 12, 1917 |  World War I Victoria Cross Recipient. Born in Ross, Tasmania, Australia, he served as a Sergeant in the 40th Battalion, Australian Imperial Forces. On October 12, 1917, during the Battle of Broodseinde, Belgium, Sergeant McGee's company was stopped by German machine gun fire from a concrete pill-box. He on his own, single handedly rushed the position armed only with a revolver, shot some of the crew and captured the rest. He then reorganized the remnants of his platoon and enabled the advance to proceed onto success. He was later killed in actions at Passchendaele, Belgium. For most conspicuous bravery, he was posthumously awared the Victoria Cross on November 23, 1917. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
