Vere E. Balmer, 87, of the Sarah Todd Memorial Home, Carlisle, formerly of Wellsville RD 1, died Saturday in the home.
He was a retired engineer and a member of Barrens United Lutheran Church. He was a member of the White Rose Lodge, York, and Basketball Sport Hall of Fame.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth K. Kilmer Balmer; two daughters, Olga R. Shreve and Bonita L. Hampton, both of Wellsville; a son, Charles V. Balmer of Harrisburg; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in
Barrens United Lutheran Church, Barrens Church Road, Dillsburg. Burial will be in Barrens Salem Union Cemetery.
Viewing will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday in his church with Masonic services at 1: 45 p.m.
