ALFRED LEIGH BEAMER was born on September 6, 1906 in Spokane, Washington and passed away on August 15, 1980 in Kennewick, Washington. He spent the early years of his life in the Coeur d'Alene, Idaho area. He graduated from Pasco High School in 1924 and attended the University of Idaho in 1925 and 1926.
Leigh married Marjorie Helen Johnston in August 1930 and together they celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on August 9, 1980.
He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Kennewick, Pasco Masonic Lodge No. 175, York Rite Bodies of Pasco, El Katif Shrine Temple of Spokane, Washington, Columbia Basin Shrine Club, and the Tri-Cities Country Club.
Leigh started his life's work in the Electric Power business with Pacific Power and Light in Kennewick in 1937 and transferred to Franklin County Public Utility District in November 1947.
He held the position of Purchasing Agent from 1947 until his retirement in 1970. He also had many other important responsibilities in the P U D organization, including warehousing and automotive equipment and the associated personnel. He was a capable and dedicated individual and went out of his way to help his fellow employees.
Leigh was highly regarded by the electric utility equipment suppliers of the Northwest as was demonstrated by an overwhelming turnout at his retirement in 1970.
In addition to his vocation, Leigh was considered to be an accomplished artist and spent many, many hours in his studio pursuing this hobby. A great number of his friends and relatives are the beneficiaries of his fine paintings.
