STEELEVILLE - Margaret C. Witherby, 91 of Steeleville, passed away at 12:15 am, Saturday, May 26, 2012 at home surrounded by her family.
Margaret was born in Steeleville, IL on July 11, 1920, the daughter of Henry and Clara Meyerhoff Knop. She married Harold A. Witherby on December 24, 1940 in Perryville, MO. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1991.
Margaret was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville, Sparta V.F.W. Auxiliary, and B.B.K. American Legion Auxiliary Post #480, Steeleville. Margaret was an avid bowler and loved sewing. She enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida with Harold and spending time with her family.
Margaret is survived by one son, Kent (Becky) Witherby of Jackson, MO; one daughter, JoAnn (Omar) Duvall of Percy; three grandchildren, Tina Logan, Terry Nagel and Khristopher Witherby; six great grandchildren; five step grandchildren, Allan Duvall, Paul Duvall, Lori Krull, Donna McMellon and Robin Cummings; 10 step great grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Ashley of Steeleville and Florence Parnell of Branson, MO; beloved caregiver, Barbara Welge of Chester; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 10:30 am at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville with Rev. Dr. Alan W. Janneke officiating. Burial will follow in Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 5 to 8 pm Tuesday and on Wednesday from 7:30 am until 8:30 am then from 9:30 am until 10:30 am at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
