Death: Apr. 5, 1902

Taken from Neriah Lewis Sr. and descendants by Keith Howard Lewis pp. 29 - 30 . . .
Beason Lewis, son of Tarlton and Malinda (Gimlin) Lewis, born 19 February 1836 in Carlinville, Macoupin County, Illinois. Beason's father, Tarlton Lewis, was the first Bishop of Salt Lake City, Utah. Later the family moved to Parowan, Utah and from there to Minersville, Utah.

Beason married Adeline Rhodes at Minersville in 1868. They were married five years and had three children when Beason was left a widower. his wife died at Joseph, Sevier County, Utah, 14 February 1873.

On the 20th of May 1873 Beason Lewis married (2) Mary Magdeline Nazer. Their marriage was solemnized in the Endowment House, Salt Lake City, 9 August 1875. He was first Counselor to the Bishop in Joseph, Utah.

In the fall of 1880 the family moved to Wayne County. here they lived on a ranch called "Fish Creek" eight miles east of Teasdale, utah. In the Spring of 1886 they moved to Teasdale, Utah to send the older children to school. While living there their oldest son died and in less than a year their youngest son passed away. losing these boys was a great shock to them. They decided to move again and Beason bought land at Aurora and started to build a home. April 18, 1892 they moved to Sevier County, Utah.

Beason helped to build reservoirs and canals. He was one of the first board members of the Otter Creek Reservoir and also the Vermillion Extension Canal. He had large holdings of land under the canal. He was very liberal in helping to build Churches and Temples. He always remembered those less fortunate than himself.

Beason died 5 April 1902 and was buried at Aurora, Utah.

There is a discrepancy in Beason's birth date. Some records show his birth date as 19 July 1836 and others show 19 February 1836. Beason and his firs wife, Adeline Rhodes, were blessed with three children, all born in Minersville, Utah.
